Indexes and Abstracts provide bibliographic citations to magazine, journal, or newspaper articles on a given topic. Additional print and CD-ROM indexes are available in the Libraries. Please ask for assistance at the Reference Desks.

Electronic Journals

University of Akron faculty, students, and staff have access to online full-text articles from a growing list of electronic journal titles. These articles can be viewed and printed using standard personal computer equipment at any time and from any networked location. These web-based articles are best viewed using Netscape and most often require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader to read or print the PDF format of articles. Adobe Acrobat can be downloaded by visiting the Adobe Acrobat site at http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/.

Stanford University's HighWire Press publishes important journals in the areas of science, technology, and medicine journals. It provides free online access to the back files of about 120 journals and the full text of hundreds of thousands of articles. Individual titles are represented in the library's catalog, UA Libraries Catalog.

Additional Electronic Journals

The University Libraries subscribes to many other electronic journals, including titles from the American Chemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Physics, the American Institute of Physics, and the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
